The Election Commission has announced the maximum amount candidates can spend on voters for the upcoming Provincial Council elections, with limits ranging between Rs. 74 and Rs. 160.
This spending cap has been set separately for the 336 local government institutions where elections are set to take place.
According to the Commission, the lowest spending limit of Rs. 74 has been designated for the Mannar Local Government, while the highest spending limit of Rs. 160 has been set for the Lahugala Local Government. These limits aim to maintain fairness and transparency during the election process.
In other election-related news, the printing of ballot papers for the local government elections commenced on March 24th. The elections are scheduled to take place on May 6th, 2025, marking a crucial step towards electing local government representatives.
