Former President Ranil Wickremesinghe addressed recent reports regarding his involvement in facilitating housing for police officers during the 1988-1990 insurgency, asserting that he was not implicated in any other allegations.

According to Wickremesinghe, the commission's findings indicated that his role was limited to the provision of housing for police officers, which, under regulations, should have been handled through the Inspector General of Police. He explained that both he and Nalin Delgoda were indirectly responsible for this process, but he was not connected to any other accusations in the report.

Mr.Wickremesinghe emphasized that while the report was made available in Parliament in 2000, no political party, including the JVP, requested a debate on its findings. The former president's statements come as the issue continues to attract attention in political circles.
