Minister of State for Investment, Nalinda Jayatissa, affirmed that investigations into the Central Bank bond scam are actively progressing, despite the challenges involved. Addressing the media at a Cabinet briefing, Minister Jayatissa highlighted the government's commitment to ensuring accountability and transparency in the matter.

He stressed that significant efforts are underway to bring Arjuna Mahendran, the former Central Bank Governor, back to Sri Lanka. Mahendran, who is accused of being involved in the controversial bond scam, fled the country to Singapore, citing attendance at a wedding as his reason for departure.

The Minister assured the public that the government is pursuing all legal avenues to ensure his return and face charges in Sri Lanka.

The Central Bank bond scam, which took place in 2015, has been a contentious issue in Sri Lanka’s political landscape, with widespread allegations of corruption and financial misconduct. Despite the challenges in bringing Mahendran back to Sri Lanka, authorities are determined to pursue justice for the victims of the scandal and the public interest.

Minister Jayatissa's statement comes as the Sri Lankan government continues to strengthen efforts to address the case, which remains under investigation by local authorities and international agencies.
