The Second Reading of the Appropriation Bill for the year 2025 was successfully passed in Parliament today, February 25, with a significant majority of 109 votes.
155 Members of Parliament cast their votes in favor, while 46 votes were cast against the bill.
The bill, which outlines the national budget for 2025, was presented by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, in his capacity as the Minister of Finance, during the Budget Speech on February 17.
The debate on the bill spanned a period of seven days, beginning on February 18 and concluding today.
