The Colombo High Court has issued a notice for Member of Parliament Namal Rajapaksa, requesting his appearance in court on February 18 in connection with charges of criminal misappropriation involving Rs. 70 million related to the controversial Krrish project.

The court's decision follows the submission of indictments by the Attorney General, accusing the parliamentarian of involvement in financial irregularities concerning the high-profile development project.

The charges have attracted significant attention due to the project’s controversial nature and its association with high-ranking political figures.

Colombo High Court Judge Manjula Thilakaratne ordered the issuance of the notice after reviewing the documents provided by the Attorney General’s office. The charges against Rajapaksa are said to be linked to alleged mismanagement and misuse of funds during the project’s implementation.

Rajapaksa, who is a prominent figure of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) party, is expected to respond to the charges in court on the scheduled date.

This case adds to the ongoing scrutiny of political figures involved in alleged corruption and financial misdeeds in the country. The outcome of the proceedings will be closely watched as they could have significant implications for the political landscape in Sri Lanka.
