The Department of Meteorology has issued an Amber advisory for the sea areas off the coasts extending from Colombo to Kankasanthurai via Puttalam. The advisory, which was issued at 08:00 a.m. today (January 12), will remain in effect for the next 24 hours, until 08:00 a.m. on Monday, January 13.
According to the advisory, the sea conditions in these areas are expected to be rough at times, with strong gusty winds reaching speeds of 50-60 km/h.
In light of these conditions, the Department has urged the naval and fishing communities to exercise caution and remain vigilant during this period.
