The High Commissioner of Pakistan to Sri Lanka, His Excellency Major General Faheem Ul Aziz (Retd), recently met with Deputy Minister of Defence, Major General Aruna Jayasekara (Retd), during a courtesy call at the Deputy Minister's office in Colombo.
The meeting focused on strengthening bilateral defence cooperation and exploring key areas of mutual interest. Both parties discussed enhancing training opportunities for the Sri Lankan armed forces to prepare them for evolving security challenges. They also explored ways to boost anti-narcotics efforts in Sri Lanka through technical assistance and expertise from Pakistan. Additionally, they deliberated on strategies to combat social insecurity by leveraging specialized knowledge in counter-terrorism.
Deputy Minister Jayasekara expressed his appreciation for Pakistan’s longstanding cooperation and friendly relations with Sri Lanka. He commended the support extended by Pakistan over the years and highlighted the importance of continued collaboration.
The discussions reaffirmed the strong partnership between the two nations, emphasizing a shared commitment to addressing regional security concerns and fostering deeper ties in defence and security sectors.
