The Police Media Division has clarified that a circulating audio recording claiming to be a "special notification by the Sri Lanka Police" is fake.
The recording falsely links the announcement to the government’s “Clean Sri Lanka – 2025” program and warns the public to clean areas in front of their homes, citing the Police Ordinance. It also claims legal action will be taken for non-compliance after January 15, 2025.
The Police confirm no such announcement has been issued and label the audio as fraudulent. Investigations are underway to identify and prosecute the individual responsible for creating and sharing the recording.
