The Commissioner General of Examinations, Amith Jayasundara, announced today that free marks will be awarded to all students for three questions in the 2024 Grade 05 Scholarship Examination, following a recent Supreme Court ruling.

In response to allegations of question leaks prior to the exam, the Supreme Court ordered that all candidates should be given marks for the affected questions. This decision aims to ensure fairness and transparency in the examination process, as concerns regarding the integrity of the test had been raised.

Mr.Jayasundara assured that the exam’s overall results will not be impacted by this adjustment. He emphasized that the Ministry of Education remains committed to upholding the credibility of the examination system and safeguarding the interests of students.

The decision is expected to bring relief to students and parents, ensuring that no candidate is unfairly penalized for circumstances beyond their control. Further details regarding the implementation of the free marks will be released in the coming days.

The Grade 05 Scholarship Examination, one of the most important milestones in the Sri Lankan education system, is a key determinant for entry into top-tier schools across the country.
