The deadline for applying to Sri Lanka's Aswesuma social welfare program has been extended due to ongoing adverse weather conditions across the country. Originally set for December 2, the new deadline is now December 9, 2024.
This extension is aimed at allowing disaster-affected individuals more time to apply for assistance.
The application process remains open at divisional secretariats and can also be submitted online through the Welfare Benefits Board official website, and the government has also set a deadline of December 15 for submitting appeals from those who feel they were unjustly excluded from the program.
This adjustment ensures that as many affected individuals as possible can access the relief provided by the program.
