The Ministry of Agriculture Livestock Resources and Irrigation has issued an urgent notification addressing engineers and technical officers in charge of reservoirs within the Irrigation Department and the Mahaweli Authority in response to the ongoing heavy rains across the country.
Ministry of Agriculture Issues Directive for Engineers and Technical Officers Amidst Heavy Rains
The Ministry has instructed that all engineers and technical officers remain at their designated workplaces to ensure the safety and proper management of the reservoirs during the adverse weather conditions.
In addition, the leave of officers who are currently on leave has been officially cancelled, effective immediately, to maintain a continuous and coordinated effort in monitoring and managing the water systems.
The Ministry emphasized the importance of readiness in the face of potential flooding or other complications arising from the heavy rainfall, and the need for all personnel to remain vigilant and available to handle any emergency situations that may arise.
