The Election Commission has confirmed that 667,240 votes were rejected during the 2024 General Election.

Commissioner General of Elections shared the key statistics of the General Election held yesterday, such as Eligible voters: 17,140,354, Votes cast: 11,815,246, Valid votes: 11,148,006, Rejected votes: 667,240 to the media. 

“The election has been hailed as the most peaceful in Sri Lanka’s history”, Rohana Hettiarachchi, the Executive Director of the People’s Action for Free and Fair Elections (PAFFREL), commended the smooth and peaceful conduct of the polls, marking a significant achievement for the nation’s electoral process.
