Seven people including two children were injured when a light truck collided with a train at a railway crossing in Weligama. The incident occurred at the Polwatte level crossing in Weligama when the truck driver reportedly ignored a red signal and attempted to cross the tracks

 According to police reports, the truck was struck by a train, resulting in injuries to the driver and six passengers. Among the injured, some are said to be in critical condition and have been admitted to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Authorities are continuing their investigation into the cause of the accident, but initial findings suggest that the truck driver's failure to heed the warning signals may have led to the collision.

The identities of the injured individuals have not been disclosed, and the hospital has not yet provided further details on their conditions.
