In a historic victory, the National People's Power (NPP) has secured a commanding two-thirds majority in Parliament following the 2024 General Election. The NPP emerged as the dominant force, winning 159 seats in the House after leading across the country.

With a total of 6,863,186 votes, the NPP's performance marks a significant shift in Sri Lankan politics, giving them a strong mandate to implement their policy agenda.

Meanwhile, the main opposition party, the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB), garnered 1,968,716 votes and secured 40 seats in the legislature. Although a distant second, the SJB continues to remain a prominent voice in the opposition.

NDF - 500,835 - 5 seats

SLPP - 350,429 - 3 seats

The election results reflect a decisive public endorsement of the NPP’s vision, positioning them as the primary political force in the country for the next parliamentary term.
