As of 9 AM, the National People's Power (NPP) is leading in Sri Lanka's general election, securing a commanding 62.36% of the vote, amounting to 6,661,654 votes. The party has so far won 97 seats, with only 16 more needed to reach the majority threshold.
The Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) has garnered 1,916,637 votes, making up 17.94% of the total votes. With 26 seats secured, the SJB still requires 87 additional seats to reach the majority mark.
The New Democratic Front (NDF) has received 484,563 votes, or 4.54%, and has won 2 seats. Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) has received 345,239 votes, or 3.23%, with 2 seats thus far.
Ilankai Tamil Arasu Kadchi (ITAK) follows with 195,548 votes, or 1.83%, securing 3 seats.
Sarvajana Balaya (SB) has received 174,595 votes (1.63%) but has not secured any seats yet.
United Democratic Voice (UDV) is trailing with 81,698 votes, representing 0.76% of the vote.
