The National People's Power (NPP) is poised to secure a significant victory in Sri Lanka's latest Parliamentary election, with preliminary results indicating a commanding lead. As of the latest counts, the NPP has already secured 28 seats from five districts, including major wins in 95 of the 100 electorates that have reported so far. Results from 60 electorates remain outstanding, but the NPP's dominance is clear.

The NPP has made strong gains across several key districts, clinching victories in Galle, Matara, Hambantota, Polonnaruwa, and Badulla.

In the southern province alone, the party has returned 18 members to Parliament, with 7 from Galle, 6 from Matara, and 5 from Hambantota. Additionally, the NPP has won 4 seats from Polonnaruwa and 6 from Badulla.

The main opposition, Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB), has secured a smaller share of the vote, returning one member each from the southern districts of Galle, Matara, and Hambantota, along with one from Polonnaruwa and two from Badulla.

The Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) managed to secure one seat each from Galle and Hambantota, while the New Democratic Front (NDF) won one seat from Badulla.

Other noteworthy results include the Tamil Eelam People's Democratic Party (EPDP), which clinched the Kayts electorate, and the Ilankai Tamil Arasu Kachchi (ITAK), which emerged victorious in three electorates, including Kilinochchi. Additionally, an independent group claimed victory in the Chavakachcheri electorate.

With 16 more districts still to announce results, the NPP's early performance suggests they are on track for a resounding parliamentary mandate. The party's success in traditionally strong areas, combined with their strategic wins in crucial districts, positions them to dominate the new legislative session.
