The silent period for the 2024 general election began at midnight yesterday (November 12), following the end of the campaign period, announced The Commissioner General of Elections.
This period will remain in effect until election day on November 14. Commissioner General reminded all candidates to adhere strictly to election laws during this time.
He confirmed that all preparations for the election are complete. Registered voters who were unable to collect their official polling cards can now download them from the National Election Commission’s e-services website.
The Commissioner General also assured that necessary security arrangements are in place, with ballot box transportation to polling stations set to begin tomorrow. Nearly 200,000 state employees have been mobilized for election duties, with 8,361 candidates contesting, 5,015 from political parties and 3,346 independent candidates.
