The Election Commission has announced that all campaign activities related to the upcoming parliamentary elections scheduled for next Thursday will officially conclude today 11th at midnight.
However, the Commission has granted an additional extension for candidates to withdraw their election offices until midnight tomorrow (12th).
Election Commission Chairman, R. M. A. L. Mr. Ratnayake, emphasized that while candidates can dismantle their election offices until tomorrow night, no campaign activities will be permitted from the 12th to the 14th of November. This includes any forms of advertising, whether through mass media or other channels.
The Commission also clarified that it is strictly prohibited to pay for or post any advertisements during this period, ensuring a fair and neutral environment ahead of election day.
These measures are in line with the country's electoral code to maintain transparency and prevent undue influence on voters during the final days leading up to the election.
