Police have confirmed that 11 candidates contesting the upcoming general election have been arrested. According to Police Spokesperson DIG Nihal Thalduwa, these candidates face charges for distributing leaflets, displaying posters and banners illegally, and organizing protests at police stations to demand the release of suspects.

Additionally, 353 supporters have also been detained for violating election laws.

Campaigning for the general election will conclude at midnight on November 11, after which a “silent period” will begin, prohibiting further campaigning until the election.
