Thirteen people have been arrested for allegedly attempting to hunt for treasure at a temple in Mapitigama. Police reported that the suspects were caught digging within the temple grounds, and various excavation tools were seized at the scene.
Authorities also confiscated a car, a van, and two three-wheelers used by the suspects in the operation.
The arrested individuals, aged 22 to 58, are from several areas, including Heiantuduwa, Siambalape, Malwana, Imbulgoda, Kegalle, Homagama, Kaduwela, Kirindivela, Ambanwala, and Hanwella. Police are continuing their investigation into the incident.
