Former State Minister Lohan Ratwatte has been transferred from the Prison Hospital to Colombo General Hospital due to a sudden illness. The transfer occurred on the night of November 2.

Ratwatte was arrested and remanded on October 31st for allegedly using a luxury car that was illegally imported and assembled in Sri Lanka. He was initially admitted to the prison hospital on Saturday, following approval from the Nugegoda Acting Magistrate.

The investigation began after police discovered an unregistered luxury car at Ratwatte's wife’s residence in Mirihana. This discovery was made on October 26, based on a tip-off regarding a vehicle without number plates located in a three-storied house in the Embuldeniya area.

During questioning, Ratwatte and his wife claimed the car had been brought to their home by his late private secretary, who was found dead under suspicious circumstances shortly before the arrest. The case continues to unfold as authorities further investigate the circumstances surrounding the car and the recent events related to Ratwatte's secretary.
