The Railway Station Masters' Association has announced plans to initiate a strike action starting at midnight tomorrow if their demands are not addressed in discussions scheduled with the subject minister on October 30.
Sumedha Somaratne, president of the association, revealed that talks held today with the Railways General Manager ended without any resolution. The decision for immediate trade union action stems from ongoing grievances related to the Railway Station Master position, particularly concerning promotions and working conditions.
Somaratne emphasized that repeated requests for a favorable response from authorities have gone unheeded, prompting the association to take this serious step. The potential strike could disrupt railway services and affect thousands of commuters, heightening the urgency for a swift resolution.
