Since early morning, long lines have formed outside the passport office in Battaramulla as people wait to get tokens for obtaining passports. Many individuals reported arriving as early as 4:00 a.m., but by midday, over 1,000 people were still waiting in line.
Frustration grew among those waiting, as they claimed that only one police officer was assigned to check documents. Many people said this lack of staff was the main reason for the long waiting times.
Those in line hope for a quicker process as they seek to obtain their passports.
