Foreign worker remittances to Sri Lanka surged in September 2024, marking a significant rise from the previous year. The Central Bank of Sri Lanka reported that remittances reached US$ 555.6 million for September, up from US$ 482.4 million in September 2023.

Additionally, from January to September 2024, total remittances hit US$ 4,843.8 million, showing an 11.5% increase compared to the same period in 2023. The steady growth reflects a positive trend in foreign earnings for the country.
