An Indian multi-day fishing vessel was apprehended by the Navy for violating Sri Lanka's territorial waters in the North Sea. The vessel was intercepted during a special search operation conducted beyond Pedurutuduwa.
Twelve Indian fishermen aboard the vessel were also taken into custody. Following the operation, both the fishing vessel and the crew were brought to Kankasanthure harbor. They have been handed over to the Jaffna Milady Fishery Precinct office for further legal proceedings.
The Navy has reiterated its commitment to safeguarding the country’s maritime boundaries and enforcing fishing regulations. Further investigations are ongoing.
