The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) has submitted a proposal to the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) for a possible tariff revision set for December, marking the third quarterly review for the year.

According to the PUCSL, the anticipated electricity tariff adjustment is expected to be a modest 6% increase across all sectors. Jayanath Herath, Director of Corporate Communications at PUCSL, stated that while a reduction of 4% to 11% had initially been considered, the current proposal reflects a more moderate adjustment.

The proposed changes are currently under review by the PUCSL. Following this review, the proposal will enter a public consultation phase before a final decision is made. If necessary, the commission will provide feedback for additional modifications to the Electricity Board on Monday.

This upcoming adjustment would be the third change in electricity tariffs this year. The first revision in March resulted in a 21.9% revision for all segments, followed by a reduction of 22.5% in July.
