President Anura Kumara Dissanayake met with South African High Commissioner Sandile Edwin Schalk at the Presidential Secretariat in Colombo today (25th October). During their discussion, the High Commissioner conveyed a message of goodwill from South Africa's President and reaffirmed his country's commitment to enhancing relations with Sri Lanka, according to the President's Media Division (PMD).

The meeting highlighted South Africa’s ongoing support for applying its peace and reconciliation model in Sri Lanka. They also discussed expanding trade through the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce and boosting the travel and tourism sector for mutual benefit.

In addition, they explored sharing South African technology for managing human-elephant conflict, as well as cooperation in defense, agriculture, and technology sectors. President Dissanayake also briefed the High Commissioner on Sri Lanka’s security improvements following recent advisories, assuring reinforced measures for tourist safety.

The meeting was attended by Deputy High Commissioner Ms. Rene Everson-Varney and Second Secretary Ms. Zanethemba-Leilla Tshangela.
