A petition has been submitted to the Supreme Court seeking to reject the nomination of former Member of Parliament Ranjan Ramanayake, who is running for the upcoming general election under the "United Democratic Voice" party in the Gampaha District.
The petition, filed by independent candidate K.M. Mahinda Senanayake from Gampaha District, requests a ruling that states Ramanayake should not have the right to contest for a parliamentary seat or vote.
The Election Commission, along with its members, Ranjan Ramanayake, the Gampaha District Returning Officer, and several others, have been named as respondents in this legal case.
