Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya has stated that the government is actively working to eliminate corruption through strong political leadership. She noted that while the impact of economic crises often falls on the most vulnerable, professionals and the middle class have also been deeply affected by recent hardships.

The Prime Minister highlighted the struggles these groups face in maintaining their livelihoods, particularly due to tax policies introduced during the economic downturn. To support their recovery, Dr. Amarasuriya emphasized the importance of creating conditions that allow professionals, the middle class, and business owners to rebuild and achieve financial stability.

Key steps in this effort include stabilizing the banking system and creating more opportunities for business growth. Dr. Amarasuriya also mentioned that the government is focused on easing the tax burden on professionals and providing support through new economic policies.

Reaffirming her commitment to fighting corruption, the Prime Minister stated that removing corruption from the political system and state institutions remains a priority. She expressed optimism that the recent changes made by the government are already showing positive results.
