The Colombo High Court today issued an arrest warrant for former Minister Johnston Fernando after he failed to appear before the court in relation to a case accusing him of unlawfully using employees of Lanka Sathosa for election-related work between 2010 and 2014.

In a separate incident, Fernando was questioned by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) earlier today concerning an unregistered luxury car, reportedly found at a star-class hotel in Colombo and believed to be connected to him.

Yesterday (22th October), Fernando submitted a petition requesting an order to prevent his arrest over the luxury car investigation. His attorneys informed the court that the former minister was willing to cooperate fully and provide a statement to the CID, which he did earlier today.

The court has scheduled a hearing for the petition on October 25 to determine further legal actions.
