The Consulate General of Sri Lanka in Dubai and Northern Emirates is providing extensive support to the Sri Lankan community in the UAE during the UAE Amnesty Program 2024, which began on 1st September and will continue until 31st October 2024. This program offers individuals the chance to regularize their visa status or return to Sri Lanka without penalties.

The Consulate General has urged Sri Lankans who do not possess a valid passport or have lost their passport to apply for a Temporary Travel Document (TTD) by 25th October 2024. This will ensure adequate time to process their requests, obtain an out pass from UAE authorities, and return to Sri Lanka.

In a statement, the Consulate General reaffirmed its commitment to assisting Sri Lankan nationals during this amnesty period, encouraging eligible individuals to make full use of the services provided to either regularize their visa status or return home safely.

According to the Consulate, the amnesty program has seen high participation, 6,776 individuals have visited the Consulate for assistance during regular and special amnesty consular hours, 907 passport applications have been accepted, 761 Temporary Travel Documents (TTDs) have been issued for those without valid passports and 835 air tickets have been purchased through special counters set up at the Consulate by Sri Lankan Airlines and Fits Air for those wishing to return to Sri Lanka.

The Consulate remains dedicated to ensuring the smooth processing of requests and facilitating the safe return of Sri Lankan citizens during this amnesty period.
