In a significant move to enhance tourism, the Sri Lankan government has launched a new series of passport books featuring unique designs that highlight the country's prominent tourist attractions.

The new passports will include dedicated pages showcasing stunning imagery from across Sri Lanka, aimed at promoting its rich cultural and natural heritage.

Cabinet Spokesman Minister Vijitha Herath announced that the passport issuance backlog has been resolved, with approximately 50,000 new passports set to arrive this week.

A batch of around 7,500 passports arrived on Saturday, with an additional 42,000 expected on Wednesday, October 23. Minister Herath confirmed that the public will soon have access to the new passports.

This initiative not only aims to facilitate travel for Sri Lankans but also serves as a strategic effort to attract international visitors by showcasing the country's beauty at a glance.
