Senior politician and former MP Gamini Lokuge has announced he will not contest the upcoming general election due to health reasons. Despite his physical limitations, Lokuge's name has been added to the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) National List, alongside party National Organizer Namal Rajapaksa.
When asked about his inclusion on the list, Lokuge stated that he can still work while seated.
He explained that the decision to add Rajapaksa to the National List was made by the party, allowing Rajapaksa to focus on organizing work across all 224 constituencies rather than running for office.
