The Natural Hazards Early Warning Centre of the Meteorology Department has issued an advisory for naval and fishing communities in the deep-sea areas of the Bay of Bengal. Strong winds and rough sea conditions are expected, particularly off the coast from Puttalam to Hambantota, including Colombo and Galle.
The advisory warns of very strong gusty winds reaching speeds of 60-70 km/h. Additionally, wave heights may rise to between 2.5 to 3.0 meters in the waters extending from Colombo to Hambantota via Galle and Matara.
Authorities urge all naval and fishing personnel to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions during this period of adverse weather.
