The Rajapaksa family has decided that they will not contest the upcoming 2024 General Election. Former Presidents Mahinda and Gotabaya Rajapaksa, along with former MPs Basil and Chamal Rajapaksa, have decided to step back from the parliamentary race.
However, former Minister Namal Rajapaksa will lead the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) campaign and has been nominated for the National List.
The 2024 General Election is set to take place on 14th November, with the SLPP aiming to secure significant support under Namal's leadership.
