Sri Lanka Police has clarified traffic regulations for the newly reopened section of R.A. De Mel Mawatha in Colombo, from St. Michael's Roundabout to Rotunda Roundabout. Police Spokesperson DIG Nihal Thalduwa confirmed the road is currently open only for light vehicles following instructions from the Ministry of Defense.
A part of R.A. de Mel Mawatha from St. Michael’s Roundabout to the Rotunda Roundabout along Temple Trees, which had been closed for 19 years since 2005 for security reasons, was reopened to the public on 4th October. Due to ongoing repair works, vehicular movement is currently allowed in one direction, with both lanes set to open once repairs are complete.
