Acting Inspector General of Police Priyantha Weerasuriya announced that the recent presidential election had the lowest incidents of post-election violence in Sri Lanka's history.
Speaking at the opening of the renovated Kalkudah police station, Weerasuriya, a 36-year veteran, credited political authorities for their role in maintaining order and praised the professionalism of the police. He further noted that the police's effective response has enhanced its reputation both locally and internationally
