The Mahaweli Authority has planned to empty the Polgolla Reservoir from midnight on 27th due to maintenance work.
Water supply to Kandy and itssurrounding areas will be suspended for two days.
Accordingly, the water accumulated in the reservoir is to be released to the Victoria reservoir
The Mahaweli Authority requests the local residents to refrain from going down to the Mahaweli River as it is risky.
The National Water Supply and Drainage Board says that with the emptying of the Polgolla Reservoir, water supply to several areas will have to be suspended as there will be no water supply to Vasal Kandy and Polgolla water treatment plants on the 28th and 29th.
The board informs that there will be a 65-hour water cut from 1 am on Saturday to 6 pm on September 30.
The water supply will be suspended to the areas of the Kandy Municipal Council, Haspatttu, Pujapitiya, Pathadumbara and Akurana water supply systems, Rajawella, Sirimalwatta, Ampitiya, Amunugama, Hantana and Valala areas under the Kundasale Divisional Secretariat and Mawatha areas that distribute water from the Vasal Kandy water treatment plant.
