Advisory issued for strong wind and rough sea

The advisory warns that the sea areas off the coasts extending from Matara to Pottuvil via Hambantota and from Kankasanthurai to Puttalam via Mannar will be rough or very rough at times with very strong gusty winds up to 60-65 kmph.

The sea areas off the coasts extending from Trincomalee to Kankasanthurai and from Puttalam to Matara via Colombo and Galle will be fairly rough at times with wind, gusting up to 50 kmph, it added.

According to the advisory, the Deep Depression located over the Odisha coast has weakened into a Depression and was located near 21.4N and 84.5E at 1800UTC

The naval and fishing communities are requested to be attentive in this regard.

The advisory is in effect for the period until 06.00 a.m. on Thursday (Sept. 12).
