Several officials, including the secretary of the Eksath Lanka Podujana Pakshaya, have been arrested for soliciting a bribe of Rs. 30 million from former PUCSL Chairman and Presidential candidate Janaka Ratnayake.
The arrests were made by Bribery Commission officials in Borella, where the bribe was being solicited in exchange for offering Ratnayake a party nomination.
The arrests followed a complaint filed by Kamantha Thushara, Chairman of the Citizen's Movement Against Fraud, Corruption, and Waste.
