Senior radio and tv personality Sumana Nellampitiya (80) passed away.
She was a familiar face that visited your home every day with a familiar voice that had been on air for decades.
She joined the SLBC in 1967. She was chosen as a relief announcer. Gradually she tried her hands at various sectors from presenting, script writing, editing to producing programs.
She then ventured towards television and entered history as the first television news presenter in the island.
Funeral arrengements will be announced later.
