The Supreme Court has extended the interim order preventing the acceptance of applications for liquor licenses issued contrary to excise regulations.
This order was issued today (06) while granting leave to hear four Fundamental Rights petitions filed by a group of wine shop owners challenging the liquor licenses issued against the excise regulations.
Accordingly, the Supreme Court also decided to hold a trial against the Minister of Finance and the Commissioner General of Excise, who were named as respondents in the petitions.
The court has further directed the petitioners to file counter objections within four weeks.
The relevant petitions are scheduled to be heard on February 6, 2025.
