An ex-Army soldier has been arrested and detained after posing as a police inspector to rob women of money, gold, and other valuables, and sexually assaulting them.
The suspect had created a fake ID under the name Priyanka Silva, the former Chief Inspector of Eheliyagoda Police, who had tragically died by suicide a year ago.
Following a complaint filed with the Kesbewa Police, investigations uncovered that the suspect had sexually assaulted a woman working in a garment factory and taken nude photos of her on the 15th.
The suspect reportedly used the stolen money to spend time with women, including teledrama actresses and recorded sexual scenes with a teledrama actress and several others.
Kesbewa Police seized five mobile phones, a fake police ID card, 10,200 mg of ice drug, national ID cards of five women (including an actress), a national ID card of a male individual, 18 phone SIM cards, and a three-wheeler.
The arrest followed a complaint from a woman who was sexually abused by the suspect. Detention orders were issued on the 7th day after the suspect's court appearance.
