The Election Commission has issued a crucial reminder to the public that all applications for postal voting must be submitted to the respective District Election Offices by midnight on August 5.

The Commission emphasized that applications will only be accepted if they are physically received by the deadline; simply posting them on that date will not suffice.

In its announcement, the Commission clarified that applications for postal votes must be handed directly to the District Returning Officers by August 5. Applications submitted after this deadline will be rejected without review.

To assist postal voters, the Commission has mandated that the 2024 voters' lists be prominently displayed at relevant government offices. These lists are accessible for public viewing at all District Secretariats, Divisional Secretariats, and Grama Niladhari Offices during regular office hours starting from July 26, 2024.

For those needing postal voting application forms, these are available free of charge at the locations where the voters’ lists are displayed, district election offices, and on the Election Commission's website. All postal voting applications must be forwarded to the relevant District Returning Officers through the District Election Office address.
