Two people were injured in a shooting incident in the Harumalgoda area on Dikkumbura Road in Habaraduwa on Sunday night. According to police, two gunmen on a motorcycle fired at two men walking on the road before fleeing the scene.
One of the victims managed to escape, while the other, who attempted to board a three-wheeler, was shot again when the suspects returned and targeted the vehicle, injuring the driver as well. The driver of the three-wheeler drove off despite his injuries. Both injured individuals, aged 34 and 54, from Habaraduwa and Angulugaha respectively, were admitted to Karapitiya Hospital.
Police have identified that a pistol was used in the shooting. The motive behind the attack is still unknown, and the Habaraduwa Police are investigating to apprehend the suspects.
