State Minister of Finance Ranjith Siyambalapitiya has assured the Election Commission that the Finance Ministry is prepared to allocate the necessary funds for the upcoming Presidential election.
In a recent announcement, Minister Siyambalapitiya confirmed that the Ministry is ready to provide the required financial support for the election, with Rs. 10 billion already allocated in the 2024 budget for various election-related expenses.
"There is no obstacle in providing the funds as the government is working with strict financial management," the Minister stated.
The Ministry has committed to releasing funds for essential preliminary expenses such as postal services, printing, and security measures. Additional funds will be disbursed as needed throughout the election process.
Finance Ministry Secretary Mahinda Siriwardena, along with other senior officials, held a meeting with the Election Commission this morning to discuss the allocation of funds and address various issues related to the upcoming Presidential election.
