In a decisive move to bolster the plantation sector, the Agriculture Ministry has directed the State Fertilizer Company to reduce the prices of fertilizers for key crops such as cinnamon, tea, and coconut

This directive came after a high-level discussion at the ministry earlier today.

Following the meeting, State Fertilizer Company Chairman Dr. Jagath Perera announced that the prices for five types of fertilizers produced by the company, specifically for cinnamon, tea, and coconut, will be slashed by Rs. 1,500 to Rs. 2,000 with immediate effect. In addition, the price of each type of fertilizer produced by the company will be reduced by Rs. 5,000 per metric ton.

Minister of Agriculture and Plantation Industries Mahinda Amaraweera emphasized that this initiative aims to boost the usage of fertilizers, thereby enhancing the production of these vital crops.
