Audrey Azoulay, the Director-General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), arrived in Sri Lanka on Tuesday, July 15.
Accompanied by a delegation, she landed at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) in Katunayake this morning.
Invited by the Government of Sri Lanka, Azoulay is set for a three-day visit filled with high-profile engagements. She will meet with President Ranil Wickremesinghe, Education Minister Susil Premajayantha, Acting Foreign Affairs Minister Tharaka Balasuriya, and other senior government officials for discussions.
A highlight of her visit will be her participation in the celebration of the 75th anniversary of Sri Lanka’s membership in UNESCO, to be held at the Nelum Pokuna Theatre.
In addition, she will tour several UNESCO World Heritage Sites across the island, further strengthening the ties between UNESCO and Sri Lanka.
