Dambulla is gearing up to host the much-anticipated Women’s T20 Asia Cup 2024, scheduled to commence on July 19 at the Rangiri Dambulla International Cricket Stadium (RDICS). 

The tournament promises thrilling encounters as eight teams from across Asia vie for supremacy in the T20 format.

Teams from Sri Lanka, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, UAE, Nepal, Malaysia, and Thailand will participate in the competition, divided into two fiercely contested groups. Group 'A' will see cricket powerhouses India and Pakistan facing off alongside UAE and Nepal. Meanwhile, Group ‘B’ will feature matches between Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, and Thailand.

The tournament will kick off with UAE taking on Nepal at 2 p.m. local time, followed by a high-octane clash between traditional rivals India and Pakistan at 7 p.m. The matches are expected to draw significant attention and support from cricket enthusiasts worldwide.

Ravin Wickramaratne, Vice President of Sri Lanka Cricket, has been appointed as the Tournament Director by the Executive Committee of Sri Lanka Cricket and the Asian Cricket Council. Wickramaratne expressed confidence in delivering a successful tournament, emphasizing its potential to elevate women’s cricket globally.

"Sri Lanka Cricket, with strong support from the Asian Cricket Council, is committed to organizing a highly successful tournament. A successful outcome will significantly contribute to the advancement of women’s cricket on the international stage," Wickramaratne stated.

All matches of the Women’s T20 Asia Cup 2024 will be broadcast live on international platforms, ensuring global coverage of the event. Additionally, in a bid to encourage public participation and support, entry to the stadium will be free, inviting cricket fans to witness top-class cricketing action firsthand.
