Recent data from Sri Lanka’s state debt office reveals that the country successfully sold 131.2 billion rupees worth of bonds, aimed at meeting its financial obligations.
According to the report, all 58 billion rupees of the offered 15 December 2027 bonds were purchased at an average yield of 11.25 percent. This issuance reflects investor confidence despite the prevailing economic challenges.
In addition, the debt office managed to sell 73.2 billion rupees out of the offered 80 billion of 01 December 2031 bonds, achieving a yield of 12.00 percent. This transaction underscores Sri Lanka’s efforts to secure funding through longer-term instruments, albeit at higher yields.
The bond sale is seen as a crucial move by Sri Lanka to manage its fiscal requirements amidst ongoing economic pressures and external debt obligations. T
